A small clinical trial supported by the National Institutes of Health has found that eating during the nighttime—like many shift workers do—can increase glucose levels, while eating only during the daytime might prevent the higher glucose levels now linked with a nocturnal work life.
Implanting dopamine generators (dopaminergics) in brain cells has produced improvement in the symptoms in Parkinson's, according to the results of tests carried out with monkeys by the Navarra University Hospital, led by Dr Mar'a Rosario Luquin Piudo, neurologist at the Hospital and at the other Navarra University-based medical centre, CIMA (the Research Centre for Applied Medicine).
Simcere Pharmaceutical Group ("Simcere" or the "Company"), a leading pharmaceutical company specializing in the development, manufacturing, and marketing of branded generic and proprietary pharmaceuticals in China, today reported that its subsidiary Jiangsu Yanshen Biological Technology Stock Co., Ltd. ("Jiangsu Yanshen") has suspended production of all its products in order to conduct an internal inspection and improve its quality control systems.
Tumors require blood to emerge and spread. That is why scientists at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center believe that targeting blood vessel cells known as pericytes may offer a potential new therapeutic approach when combined with vascular growth factors responsible for cell death.
GE Healthcare has successfully linked its electronic medical records (EMR) solution with several non-GE inpatient systems, providing a single view of the patient record that will go beyond the requirements of meaningful use. The interoperability solution is set to debut at beta sites Capital Region Healthcare (N.H.) and Decatur Memorial Hospital (Ill.) in early 2011 with general availability expected later that year.
