Thailand's HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment programs should serve as a model for other countries with limited resources to fight the disease, according to a World Bank report released on Wednesday at the XVI International AIDS Conference in Toronto, Reuters UK reports.
Welch Allyn, a leading global manufacturer of frontline medical products and solutions announced today that it has entered into a multi-year agreement with Inovise Medical, Inc., a privately held cardiac technology company. Under terms of the agreement, Welch Allyn will license Inovise Medical, Inc.'s AUDICOR® technology with improved cardiac information to accurately diagnose more patients with acute or previous silent heart attacks at the point of care.
The use of electroconvulsive therapy improves the chances of a treatment response in patients with continued schizophrenia symptoms despite use of antipsychotic medication, a randomised trial shows.
The new health care law contains "a renewal of $50 million per year for five years for abstinence-focused education," CNN reports. "Programs that receive this funding must 'teach that abstinence from sexual activity is the only certain way to avoid out-of-wedlock pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, and other associated health problems,' according to the Department of Health and Human Services. To qualify, they must also teach that sex before marriage is "likely to have harmful psychological and physical effects'..."
