Women who undergo weight-loss surgery, known as bariatric surgery, and later become pregnant after losing weight may be at lower risk for pregnancy-related diabetes and high blood pressure - complications that can seriously affect the mother or her baby - than pregnant women who are obese, according to new findings from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality that are published in the November 19 issue of JAMA.
SAGE is to launch Foot & Ankle Specialist - European Edition from February 2011. The journal will be an international edition of Foot & Ankle Specialist (FAS), a bimonthly controlled circulation journal launched in 2008 publishing peer-reviewed clinical information for foot and ankle caregivers.
Meanwhile, in regard to a separate issue, West Virginia's attorney general is criticizing the Department of Health and Human Services for not responding to questions about navigator privacy concerns.
"This past week I traveled to India and Burma to meet with leaders of the private sector, civil society, and government who are charting their nations' bright and prosperous futures," USAID Administrator Rajiv Shah reports in the agency's "IMPACTblog."
