In conjunction with the 25th observation of World AIDS Day this weekend (observed each year on December 1st), AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland and AIDS Healthcare Foundation, two respected organizations that combined forces in a new partnership to improve delivery of lifesaving HIV/AIDS care and services in Ohio earlier this year, are hosting a candlelight vigil and building dedication ceremony of its new all-in-one AIDS services facility in Cleveland.
Biophysicists have developed a method for modifying the surface of micro- and nanoparticles — tiny structures measuring between a thousandth and a millionth of a millimeter — by covering them with biological molecules. Engineered in this way, the particles can serve as both therapeutic and diagnostic agents, delivering drugs to cancer cells.
Symphogen A/S today announced the initiation of a Phase 2 clinical trial to investigate the safety and efficacy of Sym004 in patients who have failed anti-EGFR monoclonal antibody (mAb)-based therapy, with recurrent and/or metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck.
Research led by the Babraham Institute with collaborators in the UK, Canada and Japan has revealed a new understanding of how an open genome structure supports the long-term and unrestricted developmental potential in embryonic stem cells. This insight provides new avenues for improving the quality and stability of embryonic stem cells - an essential requirement to fulfil their promise in regenerative medicine.
