Young or middle-aged people with Atrial Fibrillation (AF), the most common heart rhythm abnormality, are at greater risk of death if they have other long-term health conditions, according to a new study.
India's Ranbaxy Laboratories has announced that it has received tentative approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) to manufacture and market Zidovudine Tablets USP, 300 mg.
Regen BioPharma, Inc. announced today development of a novel means of delivering its patented (US Patent 8,263,571) gene silencing nucleic acid, RGBP-248, to liver tumors utilizing a clinically approved formulation as delivery system. The product in development overcomes previous hurdles with gene silencing therapeutics in which the gene silencing drug had to be delivered throughout the whole body.
Patients with non-small cell lung cancer treated with preventative brain radiation (called prophylactic cranial irradiation or PCI), significantly decrease their risk of developing brain metastases (cancer spread in the brain) by more than 50 percent (from 18 percent to 8 percent), compared to those who did not receive the treatment, according to a randomized study presented at the plenary session November 2, 2009, at the 51st Annual Meeting of American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO).
