A new strategy for treating a variety of diseases known as RNA-repeat expansion disorders, which affect millions of people, has shown promise in proof-of-principle tests conducted by scientists at Scripps Research.
ConforMIS, Inc., a medical device company pioneering patient-specific orthopaedic implants, today announced results from several clinical research studies highlighting the benefits of the iTotal® patient-specific total knee replacement.
A recent tour-de-force study by the US researchers describes a comprehensive approach to completely map mutations to the SARS-CoV-2 receptor-binding domain (RBD) that escape antibody binding – enabling, in turn, rational design of antibody therapeutics and appraisal of the antigenic consequences of viral evolution. The results are currently available in a bioRxiv preprint paper.
The Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine has identified core principles that delineate the shortfalls of graduate medical education funding. In light of the current state of Medicare GME financing and the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission's June 2010 report, AAIM encourages GME reform to address these shortfalls in light of societal health care needs.
