Judith Jennrich, PhD, RN, ACNP, associate professor, Loyola University Chicago Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing (MNSON), has been selected as a 2012 Power of Nursing Leadership SAGE award winner. The SAGE award honors nurses who mentor and support leaders of today while looking for ways to guide nurse leaders of tomorrow. Dr. Jennrich will be recognized at the 15th Annual Power of Nursing Leadership celebration on Friday, Nov. 2, in Chicago.
ThermoGenesis Corp., a leading supplier of innovative products for processing and storing adult stem cells, announced today that it has signed two new distribution agreements that will further extend its global reach into Asia and Central and South America for its offerings in the bone marrow stem cell regenerative medicine market. The Company has now completed four new distribution agreements in the past 90 days, significantly enhancing its ability to market and sell its products throughout the world.
Alexza Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced today that it has established a collaboration with Biovail Laboratories International SRL, a subsidiary of Biovail Corporation, to develop and commercialize AZ-004 (Staccato® loxapine) in the U.S. and Canada. AZ-004 is Alexza's lead program, based on the company's proprietary technology, the Staccato system. Alexza submitted its New Drug Application (NDA) for Staccato loxapine in December 2009. Alexza is seeking regulatory approval to market AZ-004, an inhalation product candidate developed for the rapid treatment of agitation in patients with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.
Surgery can mend congenital heart defects shortly after birth, but those babies will carry a higher risk of heart failure throughout the rest of their lives. Yet, according to a Science Translational Medicine study published today by UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh researchers, β-blockers could supplement surgery to regenerate infant heart muscle and mitigate the lasting effects of congenital heart disease.
