Enhanced recovery pathway recovers patients undergoing gynecologic surgery more quickly

Patients who had complex gynecologic surgery managed by an enhanced recovery pathway resulted in decreased narcotic use, earlier discharge, stable readmission rates, excellent patient satisfaction and cost savings, according to a Mayo Clinic study.

Additional heart artery stenting can help prevent future heart attacks

Research has shown that patients who have had emergency heart attack treatment with heart artery stenting - and have significant narrowings in their other untreated arteries - can benefit from additional stenting to help prevent future heart attacks.

Study warns against use of resveratrol supplements by pregnant women

A widely available dietary supplement that had been considered safe - and that some claim provides anti-aging and other health benefits - caused significant developmental abnormalities in the pancreas of offspring of pregnant monkeys who were given the supplement, according to a study published today in the FASEB Journal, from the Federation of American Societies of Experimental Biology.
