The tunable fluorescent nanoparticles known as quantum dots make ideal tools for distinguishing and identifying rare cancer cells in tissue biopsies, Emory and Georgia Tech scientists have demonstrated.
Relief of pain and stress for children receiving emergency medical treatment is a vital, and readily available, component of care.
ACCESS PHARMACEUTICALS, INC. announced today that it initiated an internal pre-licensing program to confirm the utility of its proprietary Cobalamin (vitamin B12) platform technology for targeted delivery of siRNA therapies. The program is considered important because, despite the widely publicized potential of RNA therapy, researchers up to now have been stymied in their efforts to design a pharmaceutical product that efficiently transports siRNA therapeutics into the cells they are designed to inhibit or kill.
Cellectricon, a leading provider of advanced cell-based screening technologies and services, will co-host a webinar with top researchers at University College London. The webinar will explore the use of primary cells as a biologically-relevant model for biomedical research, and highlight the new high-throughput techniques and phenotypic screening approaches that are used by UCL to investigate cellular processes in such cells.
In 2011, the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society issued a guideline recommending that neonates undergoing cardiac surgery for repair of congenital heart disease be placed on continuous encephalographic (EEG) monitoring after surgery to detect seizures. These recommendations followed reports that seizures are common in this population, may not be detected clinically, and are associated with adverse neurocognitive outcomes.
