The University of Chicago Medicine has been awarded the 2012 Supplier Diversity Leadership Award by UHC, a prestigious nationwide alliance of non-profit academic medical centers, in recognition of its commitment to expanding the use of certified women-, minority- and veteran-owned contractors as business partners throughout its campus.
Two innovative techniques in the placement of an implanted spinal cord stimulator (SCS) are expected to reduce common complications at the implant site, according to new research revealed today.
The survey engaged 110 centres in 25 countries recruiting 4,196 patients referred to a cardiology department or outpatient clinic due to CAD. A total of 2 107 of these patients were admitted on acute basis while 2,854 had an elective consultation. Patient data were collected via a web-based case record form.
While participating in physical activities such as bike riding, dancing, walking and gardening and mentally stimulating activities such as crosswords and reading may reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease, they may not do so by affecting the underlying markers for the disease, according to a study published in the June 10, 2015, online issue of Neurology, the medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology.
Randomized, phase III research from the University of Alabama at Birmingham shows that a new drug improves symptoms related to moderate to severe plaque psoriasis, a chronic skin disease of scaling and inflammation.
