Depressed children and teenagers have an increased risk of suffering from premature death and a wide range of illnesses later in life.
The Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, the leading international professional society dedicated to research, education and clinical excellence in cardiovascular computed tomography, has named the finalists of the fourth annual Young Investigator Award. Sponsored by Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc. through an unrestricted educational grant, the Young Investigator Award will be awarded to two residents or fellows in either radiology or cardiology for their patient care research in the categories of technical and clinical advancement of cardiovascular CT.
Starting today, doctors face a 21 percent cut in their reimbursements from Medicare based on a federal budget law that sets physican payments based on other economic factors. In past years, Congress has routinely waived such cuts. The House passed a bill to again postpone the cuts but a similar attempt in the Senate stalled last week.
In a recent study, a team of researchers led by Alwin Köhler at the Max F. Perutz Laboratories (MFPL) belonging to the University of Vienna and the Medical University of Vienna offer new insights into how nuclear pores are constructed in the nuclear envelope.
