U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced a new initiative aimed at improving reproductive, maternal and newborn health on Wednesday at a meeting of international leaders, in an effort to accelerate progress towards the Millennium Development Goal for reducing maternal deaths, Inter Press Service reports (Suozzi, 4/15).
The U.S. Department of Defense recently awarded more than $18 million in funding to a unit of Lonza Group, Ltd. for the development and commercialization of the therapeutic candidate, PermaDerm™ for the treatment of severe burns among U.S. troops and civilians. The funding was announced at a conference celebrating advancements in regenerative medicine on November 9th in Walkersville, MD.
Eight volunteers who received a complete dose or a single dose of an mRNA vaccine or the ChAdOx1 vaccine after a dose of a trial gorilla adenovirus vaccine showed a significantly high level of antibodies and T cell response against SARS-CoV-2.
Public health and safety would benefit from eliminating daylight saving time, according to a position statement from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
