Misonix, Inc., a developer of minimally invasive ultrasonic medical device technology, which is used in Europe for the ablation of tumors and worldwide for acute health conditions, today announced the sale to USHIFU, LLC of all of the rights to the High Intensity Focused Ultrasound technology previously obtained from Focus Surgery, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of USHIFU, together with other HIFU related assets.
Unfortunately, for health reasons, Mulac has been forced to go cold turkey. All the iced tea he was downing helped to bring on an excruciating bout of kidney stones that eventually led to surgery at Loyola University Hospital in Maywood, Ill.
Researchers at King's College London have discovered how one of the most common household painkillers works, which could pave the way for less harmful pain relief medications to be developed in the future.
A fundamental shift will take place in skilled nursing homes beginning in October following the work of a California-based researcher and a team of investigators that has developed a new national assessment tool for nursing home residents.
"Although we're several days into sequestration, details about the full impact of funding cuts are still hazy," Kim Lufkin, communications officer of the Global Health Technologies Coalition, writes in the group's "Breakthroughs" blog, noting, "On [March 1], the Office of Management and Budget released a report to Congress, which details funding cuts required to offset $85 billion in the fiscal year 2013 budget."
