Window World selected to receive New Corporate Partner of the Year award

Window World, the nation's largest replacement window company, has been selected by St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to receive the hospital's celebrated "New Corporate Partner of the Year" award, given out annually to a new partner who demonstrates excellence and dedication in fundraising. A St. Jude corporate partner since 2008, Window World has raised more than $1 million for the hospital, which is one of the world's premier centers for the research and treatment of pediatric cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases.

Researchers identify HNF1B gene that can increase risk of ovarian cancer

Researchers at Mayo Clinic Cancer Center have identified a novel gene that can contribute to a woman's susceptibility for developing ovarian cancer. Researchers identified the gene, called HNF1B, through large-scale analysis of more than 16,000 women with ovarian cancer and more than 26,000 healthy women.

A new analysis has found that breastfeeding for more than six months may safeguard nonsmoking mothers against breast cancer. The same does not seem to hold true for smoking mothers, though. Published early online in the Journal of Clinical Nursing, the findings add to the list of benefits of breastfeeding for women and their babies.
