Extreme summer heat in Montreal may have effect on early-term deliveries

When temperatures reach 32-C or higher over a period of four to seven days, the risk of early-term delivery is 27% higher than on typical summer days, according to a study led by Nathalie Auger of the University of Montreal's Department of Social and Preventive Medicine. The study involved data from 300,000 births that took place in Montreal between 1981 to 2010 with summer temperatures recorded by Environment Canada during this period. Auger is also affiliated with the university's CHUM Superhospital Research Centre.

XenoPort announces equity award to new employee under 2010 Inducement Plan

XenoPort, Inc. reported today that an equity award was made to a new employee subject to the terms and conditions of the XenoPort 2010 Inducement Award Plan. The employee was granted restricted stock units representing an aggregate of 750 shares of XenoPort's common stock. U.S. Renal Care, Inc., a leading privately-held provider of outpatient dialysis services, today announced that it has completed its $110.25 million acquisition of Dialysis Corporation of America, Inc., a leading provider of outpatient kidney dialysis services. With this acquisition, USRC will provide dialysis services to approximately 5,500 patients and operate 84 dialysis centers, home and specialty hospital dialysis programs and facilities in nine states: Arkansas, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia.
