Job strain and marital stress factors are a deadly blood pressure increasing duo

"The Double Exposure study was designed to determine if people under stress go on to develop higher levels of ambulatory blood pressure, possibly moving them along the pathway to hypertension," said Sheldon Tobe, MD, lead investigator from Sunnybrook and Women's Health Science Centre, Toronto. "Double Exposure refers to the possible interaction between job and marital factors on new and existing hypertension.

Wayne State's Peter Lichtenberg receives award to identify older adults at risk of financial exploitation

Peter Lichtenberg, Ph.D., director of the Institute of Gerontology at Wayne State University, won the Judge Edward Sosnick Courage to Lead Award for his extensive work to create ways of identifying older adults at risk of financial exploitation. The award is presented annually by the Oakland County SAVE (Serving Adults who are Vulnerable and/or Elderly) Task Force.

The Washington Post examines how African countries are "grappling with debates over what rights and duties to give those living with [HIV/AIDS] - a growing segment of the population that remains largely hidden."
