Approved dengue vaccine may increase infection in certain settings, research suggests

The only approved vaccine for dengue may actually increase the incidence of dengue infections requiring hospitalization rather than preventing the disease if health officials aren't careful about where they vaccinate, new public health research published Sept. 2 in Science suggests.

Co-authors Alexander Fedorikhin, of Indiana University's Kelley School of Business Indianapolis, and Vanessa Patrick, of the University of Houston, conducted three experiments to show how strong feelings alter one's ability to resist temptations.

Researchers at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center have identified molecular and cellular characteristics of anti-CD19 CAR T cell infusion products associated with how patients with large B-cell lymphoma (LBCL) respond to treatment and develop side effects.

Kessler Foundation scientists awarded subcontract to study ways to improve disability statistics

Kessler Foundation scientists John O'Neill, PhD, CRC and Amanda Botticello, PhD, MPH, were awarded a subcontract on the University of New Hampshire's Rehabilitation Research and Training Center grant on Disability Statistics and Demographics. The five-year grant is funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research under cooperative agreement H133B130015. Economist Andrew Houtenville, PhD, of UNH's Institute on Disability, is project director of the StatsRRTC grant, which totals $4.3 million.
