VOA News examines new drug compound that shows broad-based efficacy in lab tests

VOA News looks at a new drug compound developed by researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) that they say has so far "killed every virus it's been tested on in the laboratory." "The drug - known by the acronym DRACO - works by chemically targeting viral-infected cells and prompting them to self-destruct, eliminating the disease in the process," VOA writes.

EMPATHY program helps lessen incidents of youth anxiety, depression and suicide

Peter Silverstone knows that, of all his professional accomplishments, none are more important than the work he's doing right now. "I said to my wife that this is probably the most important thing I'll ever do in my life, if I can get this going and make a difference." Silverstone, a professor in the University of Alberta's Department of Psychiatry, is the creator of EMPATHY, a pilot program that has been used in Red Deer Public Schools since 2013 to help lessen incidents of youth anxiety, depression and suicide.
