Researchers investigate the early development of ovarian cancer

Researchers from the group of Hans Clevers at the Hubrecht Institute have modeled the development and progression of high-grade serous ovarian cancer in mini-versions of the female reproductive organs of the mouse.

TOBI reduces mortality in patients with cystic fibrosis, Pa lung infection

A new analysis of data from more than 12,000 people with cystic fibrosis (CF) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Pa) lung infection in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Patient Registry shows that use of TOBI (Tobramycin Inhalation Solution, USP) was associated with a 21% reduction in mortality in the following year.

Cognitive decline common and rapid in Parkinson's patients

Researchers report that nearly half of patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) develop cognitive impairment within about a decade, and progress rapidly to dementia.

Autism in low birth weight babies five times more common: Study

Roughly 3% of U.S. newborns fall into the low-weight category used by the researchers (2,000 grams or less). Babies of this size are typically born prematurely, though certain pregnancy complications can also cause low birth weight in full-term babies.
