TenX Biopharma recommences enrollment in suspended Phase III trial for cutaneous T-cell lymphoma

TenX Biopharma, Inc. announced today that it has re-initiated enrollment in the pivotal Phase III clinical trial assessing zanolimumab treatment for cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL) patients (ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT00127881). The trial enrollment was suspended in October 2008 while Genmab was seeking a out-license agreement to further develop the compound. TenX Biopharma acquired global rights to zanolimumab in February, 2010 from Genmab.

Researchers develop RNA aptamers that inhibit HCV replication

Treatments against hepatitis C virus have only been partially successful. A major problem is that antivirals generate drug resistance. Now Seong-Wook Lee of Dankook University, Yongin, Republic of Korea and his collaborators have developed agents that bind to the business end of a critical protein, disabling it so successfully that no resistance has arisen.

International Microbicides Conference to discuss state of HIV prevention research

Researchers, activists and funders are meeting this week in Sydney to discuss the state of HIV prevention research. The biennial International Microbicides Conference, which was opened on Sunday evening by the Honorable Tanya Plibersek MP, Australian Minster of Health, is taking place amid renewed optimism about development and delivery of new HIV prevention options with the potential for ending the AIDS epidemic, including anti-retroviral based microbicides and pre-exposure prophylaxis.
