IAS announces recipients of CNIHR grants

The International AIDS Society today announced the recipients of its first joint research grant programme, Creative and Novel Ideas in HIV Research. CNIHR grants, funded in partnership with the U.S. National Institutes of Health and the NIH-supported Centers for AIDS Research are designed to promote innovative research and new ideas from early stage investigators whose primary focus has previously been in fields of scientific inquiry other than HIV/ AIDS.

Children's Colorado participates in cystic fibrosis triple combination therapy trials

Children's Hospital Colorado has announced that its Mike McMorris Cystic Fibrosis Research and Care Center, one of the largest cystic fibrosis clinical care centers in the U.S., is participating in one of two Phase Three clinical trials related to the development of a possible breakthrough therapy for people with CF.

Lip piercing bad for gums

Researchers from Ohio State University - in a study of 58 young adults have found that having a lip piercing is bad for the gums and can make them shrink back from the teeth. The researchers also warn the longer people wear the piercing, the worse the recession.
