Researchers study planaria's regeneration process

PLATO study reveals that ticagrelor reduces the rate of cardiovascular events

The presentation of the PLATO (A Study of Platelet Inhibition and Patient Outcomes), showed that ticagrelor (Brilinta) reduced the rate of cardiovascular (CV) events (CV death, myocardial infarction or stroke) from 11.7% to 9.8% compared clopidogrel (Plavix®) XX% (p<0.001, RRR = 16%), without an increase in major bleeding.

Sleep apnoea increases risks in general anaesthesia

Patients with obstructive sleep apnoea are at high risk of developing complications when having surgery under general anaesthesia, say researchers in this week's BMJ.

Omega-3 effective for treating depression in patients without anxiety disorders

The use of Omega-3 supplements is effective among patients with major depression who do not have anxiety disorders, according to a study directed by Dr. Fran-ois Lesp-rance of the Centre de recherche du Centre hospitalier at the Universit- de Montr-al (CRCHUM), head of CHUM's Department of Psychiatry and a professor at the Universit- de Montr-al. The study was published June 15 in the online Journal of Clinical Psychiatry.
