Sanford Heart Hospital has started a clinical trial to study a dissolving device in patients with coronary artery disease. The ABSORB III clinical trial will investigate the safety and effectiveness of the Absorb Bioresorbable Vascular Scaffold (BVS) device, manufactured by global health care company Abbott.
The findings, released today by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, indicate that 95 percent of those age 55 and older have one or more medical conditions, 78 percent take one or more medications, and only 28 percent have an awareness of the risks those medications might have on driving ability.
An analysis by the journal Health Affairs has found that $55.6 billion, 2.4 percent of all annual health spending, is spent on medical malpractice, reports Modern Healthcare.
