The Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute at Morristown Medical Center today became the first hospital in the tri-state area to adopt a new minimally invasive medical device to treat patients with severe aortic stenosis who are too ill or frail to have their aortic valves replaced trough traditional open-heart surgery.
Some insurers are denying individual coverage to women who have given birth via caesarean section because they are likely to undergo the procedure again, the New York Times reports. According to the Times, a c-section on average costs about $2,700 more than a vaginal birth.
Data presented today from an analysis of samples from the European Diabetes Prevention Study (EDIPS) showed that the PreDx Diabetes Risk Score (DRS) is lowered by lifestyle intervention, which correlates to a reduction in the risk that patients will develop diabetes over time.
