Steroids are used for treating various diseases such as allergic disorders, but they occasionally cause adverse effects, such as steroid diabetes and other metabolic disturbances. Since steroids act throughout the body, how these adverse effects are caused and by which organ are not well understood.
BioMed Central is once again publishing the Journal of Medical Case Reports (JMCR) and Cases Journals. Since their inception, both these journals, which currently provide over 2000 freely accessible case reports have received widespread recognition and high quality submissions from across the medical community.
Among the most commonly used treatments for irritable bowel syndrome - which affects as many as 20 percent of the United States population - a targeted antibiotic was shown to be the safest in a new study by Cedars-Sinai researchers, based on an analysis of 26 large-scale clinical trials.
