Older Idahoans on Medicare already have trouble finding doctors, with one in five refusing to accept patients under the program – that problem is about to get much worse. Thanks to Congress' inaction, a 21% Medicare pay cut to doctors is hitting home – meaning even fewer doctors in Idaho will continue to provide care to Medicare beneficiaries, leaving the state's elderly with few options for their health care.
New California electronic medical billing regulations and revised paper medical billing requirements were released January 6th for public comment by California's Division of Workers Compensation (DWC). The regulations, part of the Division's 12-point plan to help control medical costs in California's workers' compensation system, will be signed into law in approximately 60 days.
A new study reveals that depression among senior citizens carries a huge unrecognized cost: many extra hours of unpaid help with everyday activities, delivered by the depressed seniors' spouses, adult children and friends.
A new study found that one in three young adults receive medication for opioid use disorder within 12 months of a non-fatal opioid overdose. The study, led by researchers at Boston Medical Center's Grayken Center for Addiction, in collaboration with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, shows which medications - buprenorphine, methadone or naltrexone - are being taken, and how long after the overdose they receive the treatment.
