A new epidemiological study has found that among women who have never used menopausal hormone therapy, obese women are at an increased risk of developing ovarian cancer compared with women of normal weight.
The United States may be losing ground as the leader in biomedical research and within the next five years will be second to China in the funds it spends for R&D, according to Francis Collins, M.D., Ph.D, director of the National Institutes of Health.
Citing the devastating impact that pending Medi-Cal payment cuts would have on the Valley's most vulnerable patients, Assemblymember Henry T. Perea (D-Fresno) joined with local hospital leaders today to call on state lawmakers to enact new legislation that would preserve the state's health care safety net.
A study led by a researcher at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine indicates that parent-only treatments for childhood obesity work equally as well as plans that include parents and child, while at the same time more cost effective and potentially easier for families. The results were published today in the advanced online edition of the journal Obesity.
