In the days following abdominal surgery, patients' intestinal contents pass more slowly or not at all. New research at KU Leuven, Belgium, has now shown that this phenomenon - known as post-operative ileus or bowel paralysis - is not caused by the cells previously identified as the main players.
Santarus, Inc., a specialty biopharmaceutical company, today announced that new data from open-label studies evaluating the efficacy and safety of the investigational drug RHUCIN for the treatment of acute attacks of angioedema in patients with Hereditary Angioedema were presented at the 7th C1 Inhibitor Deficiency Workshop on May 20 - 22, 2011 in Budapest, Hungary.
MedAssets today announced that Advocate Health Care, a 12-hospital, 3,300-bed health system based in Downers Grove, Ill., renewed its performance improvement relationship with MedAssets to drive sustainable cost reductions, improve operational efficiencies and ultimately, the standard of care. The renewal builds upon Advocate's recent success in total cost management initiatives including MedAssets Strategic Sourcing, Capital and Construction, Procure-to-Pay solutions and Cost Analytics.
A study which will be published in the May 2014 issue of Experimental Biology and Medicine was aimed at determining whether an EGFR-targeted therapy combined with chemo-radiotherapy can improve local tumor control effectively, compared to cytotoxic agents or irradiation alone.
