NewCardio, Inc., a cardiac diagnostic technology provider, announced today two encouraging validation studies related to CardioBip(TM), a hand-held patient-activated device for recording and wireless transmission of reconstructed 12-lead ECGs.
The new type of drugs for type 2 diabetes, the so-called SGLT2 inhibitors, are associated with a reduced risk of heart failure and death as well as of major cardiovascular events, a major Scandinavian registry study led from Karolinska Institutet reports in The BMJ.
Reporting in Nature Immunology, Jefferson neuroscientists have identified a driving force behind autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis, and suggest that blocking this cell-signaling molecule is the first step in developing new treatments to eradicate these diseases.
Whooping cough is on the rise in California and the number infected has reached a 55-year high, including nine infant deaths, eight of them Hispanics. There have been more than 4,000 confirmed, probable or suspected cases this year, the most reported since 1955.
The U.S FDA have pushed back the deadline for deciding whether to approve an experimental anticlotting drug developed jointly by Pfizer Inc. and Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. The companies said late Wednesday that the Food and Drug Administration has set a new target date of June 28 for deciding whether to approve Eliquis. That's three months later than originally scheduled.
