The Northern Territory (NT) Health Department of Australia last Saturday warned the Church of Scientology that its drug detoxification therapy, being promoted to Aborigines in Australia by the church was dangerous for people with kidney problems.
American Medical Systems, a leading provider of world-class devices and therapies for both male and female pelvic health, announced today that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued U.S. Patent Number 7,686,760 covering the surgical methodology for implanting the AMS AdVance® Male Sling. This patent provides AMS with broad patent coverage on transobturator surgical procedures to treat male incontinence.
"Treating HIV patients with cocktails of AIDS drugs helps to stop them spreading the infection further and more than halved the number of new HIV diagnoses in a study in Canada, scientists said on Sunday," Reuters reports.
At the annual Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (CROI) in Boston on Monday, researchers "suggested the potential" of a gel containing the antiretroviral drug tenofovir to reduce the risk of anal HIV transmission, TIME's "Healthland" blog reports.
