As emergency response teams in the region scramble to acquire dwindling medical supplies to combat the surge in COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections, diverse members of the New Jersey Institute of Technology community - from engineers to physicists to advanced manufacturing specialists to students - are designing and fabricating devices to help address the shortfall.
Babies born past their due dates – at 42 weeks or later, are at increased risk for cerebral palsy compared to those born at 40 weeks, according to new research. That said, the actual risk of cerebral palsy remains low. According to the CDC one in 303 children have some type of cerebral palsy. Common symptoms may include movement problems, muscle stiffness, poor muscle tone, and spasticity. The symptoms are thought to result from injury to the brain as a fetus or early in infancy.
FDA last week launched a Web page aimed at discouraging consumers from purchasing the acne drug isotretinoin, sold by Roche under the brand name Accutane, on the Internet, Dow Jones/Marketwatch reports.
Medac Pharma, Inc., a privately held pharmaceutical company focused on the development of new molecules and improving the effectiveness of existing medicines, announced the FDA acceptance of its New Drug Application (NDA) for its lead product candidate, MPI-2505, a subcutaneous injectable methotrexate (MTX) in a ready-to-use injection device, for which the proposed indications are rheumatoid arthritis (RA), poly-articular-course juvenile RA and psoriasis.
