The British Heart Foundation (BHF) is encouraging pharmacy staff to use to use No Smoking Day as an opportunity to increase participation among patients by promoting resources and local support services.
In the wake of a growing sexual harassment scandal that has been roiling UNAIDS and civil society, AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), the largest AIDS organization that provides and supports HIV care to more than 889,000 patients in 39 countries globally, including Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America & the Caribbean and the United States, is calling on the United Nations to outsource and appoint an independent third-party to investigate the case, which many believe was grossly mishandled by UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibé and his superiors at the UN.
ERYTECH Pharma, a French biopharmaceutical company that develops innovative treatments for acute leukemia and other oncology indications with unmet medical needs, announces that the ANSM, French healthcare agency, has granted the authorization to start a Phase II study in second line treatment of patients affected by pancreatic cancer.
Warner Chilcott plc today announced a recapitalization pursuant to which it intends to incur, subject to market and other conditions, $2.25 billion of new debt to fund a special dividend to Warner Chilcott's ordinary shareholders of $8.50 per share, or approximately $2.15 billion in the aggregate. The new debt is expected to be comprised of a combination of senior secured term loans and additional unsecured debt.
"The quest for a vaccine against AIDS is gaining momentum, with research published Wednesday identifying promising new candidates that protected monkeys against a powerful strain of the virus and that soon could be tested in humans," the Wall Street Journal reports.
