CDC guidelines say most children reach a milestone by a certain age, but new data shows that "most" may mean over 99% or barely half.
SensAble Technologies, Inc®, a leading provider of 3D touch-enabled modeling systems, dental CAD/CAM solutions and haptic devices, has announced that it will be offering a second, fully integrated scanner option for the SensAble Dental Lab System, as well as SensAble's new OpenScan™ software interface. The new scanner supports the scanning of both models and impressions, providing a high degree of flexibility for labs and allowing further time-savings.
Researchers from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine report that despite overall improvement, there is still gender-related disparity in outcomes of lower extremities peripheral arterial disease (PAD). Details of their study appear in the November issue of the Journal of Vascular Surgery®, published by the Society for Vascular Surgery®.
This week, the National Advisory Committee on Immunization updated and strengthened its statement related to the use of rotavirus vaccines in Canada. Rotavirus infection is the most common cause of severe gastroenteritis in children under the age of three. The NACI statement now includes Grade A recommendations (good evidence to recommend immunization) for healthy and preterm infants.
"Thanks to a herculean effort by health advocates, 78 percent of children in low-income countries receive the basic set of childhood vaccines, covering diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B and haemophilus influenza," a Bloomberg View editorial states.
