AACC and its academy, the National Academy of Clinical Biochemistry, are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2015 AACC and NACB Awards, which honor laboratory medicine professionals worldwide for advancing the field of clinical laboratory testing.
According to a new study published in The Lancet Haematology, recombinant human erythropoietin (rHuEPO), a performance augmenting drug has little effects on high-intensity laboratory cycling test among well-trained amateur cyclists; yet in the laboratory time trial test and endurance road-race up Mont Ventoux (France), the augmenting effects were typically undetectable.
Scientists from the Institut Pasteur, Paris Descartes University, Sainte-Anne Hospital and the CNRS have recently published a paper in Nature Communications in which they reveal major players in the severe muscle damage caused by sepsis, or septicemia, which explains why many patients suffer debilitating muscle impairment long-term after recovery.
