In order to help families benefit from precision medicine, several professional medical organizations and patient advocacy groups have collaborated to develop a resource for healthcare providers and patients concerned with gynecologic cancers.
Loss of spiral ganglion neurons or hair cells in the inner ear is the leading cause of congenital and acquired hearing impairment. Researchers at the University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health found that Sox2, a protein that regulates stem cell formation, is involved in spiral ganglion neuron development. The study was published in the January 13 issue of the Journal of Neuroscience.
The Unified Clinical Organization, an innovative care improvement model from Trinity Health, is improving care coordination, patient outcomes and advancing standardization of care practices with support from Accenture.
The Endocrine Society's new scientific statement published online today represents the first comprehensive evaluation of both the basic and clinical evidence related to the non-skeletal effects of vitamin D. The statement addresses current research regarding the associations of vitamin D with immune function, hypertension, stroke, skin conditions and maternal/fetal health.
