Doctors have been given permission to assist two women in becoming pregnant with "three-person" babies for the first time in the UK.
Gender may be associated with an increased risk of cartilage lesions in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injured knees, according to research being presented at the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine's Annual Meeting in San Diego.
Researchers from TARA Biosystems, Inc. and GlaxoSmithKline today published data demonstrating that TARA's engineered heart-on-a-chip system replicated drug responses found in adult humans.
In a randomized, Phase III trial led by researchers at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, the PARP inhibitor talazoparib extended progression-free survival (PFS) and improved quality-of-life measures over available chemotherapies for patients with metastatic HER2-negative breast cancer and mutations in the BRCA1/2 genes.
Scientists have demonstrated how an investigational drug works against a rare, fatal genetic disease, Niemann-Pick type C1 (NPC1).
