New research has failed to confirm findings from smaller studies that 85 gene variations are associated with an increased risk for acute coronary syndromes (ACS), which includes heart attack and a type of angina, according to a study in the April 11 issue of JAMA.
"Since a lot of health revolves around information, public health experts had high expectations for the mobile phone," author and columnist Tina Rosenberg writes in the New York Times' "Opinionator" blog, adding, "But roughly a decade after the start of mHealth, as the mobile health field has come to be known, these expectations are far from being met.
Salvage chest wall resection could lengthen survival in patients with isolated chest wall recurrence of malignant pleural mesothelioma, research indicates.
The prognosis of ovarian cancer is poor, with an estimated five-year survival of only 40% for advanced disease, the stage at which most ovarian carcinomas are diagnosed.
