Gov. Terry McAuliffe will fly to southwest Virginia to draw attention to the uninsured as he continues his campaign to expand Medicaid.
A study published in the June issue of The Journal of Nuclear Medicine shows that positron emission tomography -a molecular imaging technique-combined with computer tomography colonography may provide a suitable alternative for detecting polyps and cancer in the colon. This particular imaging method may be especially desirable for patients because it does not require sedation or bowel preparation.
Soligenix, Inc., a late-stage biopharmaceutical company developing products that address unmet medical needs in the areas of inflammation, oncology and biodefense, announced today that it has entered into a $10 million equity purchase agreement with accredited institutional investors, Kodiak Capital Group, LLC, Kingsbrook Opportunities Master Fund LP and River North Equity, LLC.
Ligand Pharmaceuticals Incorporated announced that it has completed the acquisition of Metabasis Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ:MBRX), following approval of the transaction by Metabasis stockholders yesterday. As a result, Ligand gains a fully funded partnership with Roche, additional pipeline assets and drug discovery technologies and resources. The transaction was first announced on October 27, 2009.
A new Harris Interactive/HealthDay poll finds that reducing unemployment and creating new jobs are clearly considered the top immediate priorities for President Obama and Congress, but healthcare reform is still important. Half of U.S. adults say it will be a "bad thing" if there is no major reform of the healthcare system in the next two years.
