A new multispectral microscope, one capable of processing nearly 17 billion pixels representing 13 individual color channels in a single image, has been successfully demonstrated by a team of researchers from the United States and Australia. This is the largest such microscopic image ever created.
A team of Boston University researchers has found that the majority of individuals with substance dependence problems report having poor oral health. They also found that opioid users, in particular, showed a decline in oral health over the period of one year. These findings appear online in the Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment.
iMDsoft® announced today that the Government of Queensland has signed an agreement to install MetaVision® in selected ICUs across the state's network of public hospitals. MetaVision will be installed in 14 hospitals and will be implemented in a diverse range of ICU settings including pediatric, neurology and cardiac units. The university-affiliated Gold Coast Hospital will be the first to implement MetaVision under this agreement.
The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) is to establish nine new Research Units. This decision was taken by the DFG's Senate at its February session in Bonn. The new groups are intended to provide researchers with the opportunity to address current and urgent issues in their fields and to develop new research strategies.
Whether donated human antibodies can protect premature babies from a common and potentially dangerous bacterial infection is under study at the Medical College of Georgia Children's Medical Center.
