The Detroit Medical Center (DMC) Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) has completed the first two transcatheter aortic valve implants (TAVI) ever achieved in Michigan. The procedures are a part of CVI's participation in the Medtronic CoreValve® U.S. Clinical Trial. This multi-state trial will evaluate a new, non-surgical alternative to open-heart surgery for patients with severe aortic stenosis.
HyperBranch Medical Technology, Inc. announced today that it has received a CE Mark for Adherus Spinal Sealant. Adherus Spinal Sealant is used in spinal surgeries where a water tight seal is required to prevent cerebrospinal fluid leakage from the dural repair. Prevention of cerebrospinal fluid leaks should benefit the patient in shorter hospital stays and fewer post-surgical complications such as reduced pain and fewer infections.
