While people may expect suicide rates to rise during a worldwide crisis such as the COVID-19 pandemic, a University of Michigan study suggests the onset of the pandemic and state of emergency executive orders likely did not increase suicide-related behavior in the early months of the outbreak.
When most people think of opioid addiction, they typically do not think of pregnant women. Unfortunately, however, the prevalence of opioid addiction during pregnancy has increased nearly 500% during the past 15 years.
A 61-year-old woman was set for a liver transplant but was denied due to a high level of alcohol in her system. Her urine contained alcohol, which is unlikely unless someone has consumed large amounts of it.
Developed countries "gave more aid to poorer countries than ever before in 2010, despite facing big budget gaps and rising debt levels," according to data released on Wednesday by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Dow Jones Newswires/Wall Street Journal reports.
