The George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services (SPHHS) announced today that, thanks in part to funding from The Kresge Foundation and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, it is launching the National Center for Medical-Legal Partnership (NCMLP), a project aimed at ensuring every low-income individual has access to legal care as part of comprehensive healthcare.
The Washington Independent examines the State Department's Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review, or QDDR, announced in June by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. Anne-Marie Slaughter, the State Department's director of policy planning; James Michael, a senior USAID official; and Deputy Secretary of State Jack Lew are "in charge of creating the document — a process of managing five working groups chaired by top-level agency heads to produce an interim report in January and a final document by next September."
Three months and more than 37,000 pounds later, The Biggest Loser Summer Challenge has a winner: Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota and its employees, who lost more than 3,780 pounds or 2.80 percent of their total weight in pounds per employee since Memorial Day.
New figures released by the Health Protection Agency show that the number of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and other conditions diagnosed in genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinics in the UK increased by 3% between 2004 and 2005.
