Religious college students report less alcohol use than their classmates - and the reason may have to do with how their parents handle stress, according to new research by a Michigan State University scholar.
Sequence differences in less than 0.2% of the 3-billion-base human genome play a vital role in a bewildering variety of human disease. Researchers from the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and the Cambridge University's Cambridge Institute for Medical Research, together with international colleagues report in PLoS Genetics their detailed maps of differences implicated in disease as well as genes that are unchanged in recent human history.
Now, a new study published in the journal Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy in August 2020 shows that while humoral and T-cell immune responses are more robust in severe infection, the disease activates memory T cells as part of the adaptive immune system in COVID-19 patients irrespective of disease severity.
The week, May 23 to May 29, is National Biomedical/Clinical Engineering Appreciation Week and celebrations across the country are recognizing the importance of this field to improving healthcare and the contributions of its practitioners.
