Most patients with scoliosis developing after age ten don't need routine magnetic resonance imaging scanning before spine-straightening surgery, suggests a study in the April 14 issue of Spine. The journal is published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, a part of Wolters Kluwer Health.
Research led by the Centenary Institute in Sydney has found a brand new target for treating drug-resistant tuberculosis; our scientists have uncovered that the tuberculosis bacterium hijacks platelets from the body's blood clotting system to weaken our immune systems.
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center applauds new actions announced today by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to limit the sale of most flavored electronic cigarettes to age-restricted locations and require age-verification for online sales to lower the use of these products in children.
