GSK gets green light from FDA to ship Fluarix Quadrivalent influenza vaccine to healthcare providers

GlaxoSmithKline announced today it has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval to start shipping 2013-2014 FLUARIX QUADRIVALENT (Influenza Virus Vaccine) to CDC distribution centers and U.S. healthcare providers. Stubbing out smoking in all American workplaces would save more than 2,420 lives and $280 million

Making workplaces smoke-free would prevent an estimated 610 stroke and heart attack deaths in the first year alone, mostly among non-smokers. Over seven years, the study projects that more than 2,420 lives and $280 million would be saved – not including the costs associated with other smoking-related illnesses or lost productivity.

VLP, Special Olympics Florida partner to bring Healthy Community program for adults with disabilities

The Center for Disease Control reports that adults with disabilities are three times more likely to have heart disease, diabetes, cancer or other chronic diseases than adults without disabilities. Taking a pro-active approach to keep their clients as healthy as possible, Victory Living Programs (VLP) has partnered with Special Olympics Florida to bring the Healthy Community program to VLP.
