The pelvic organ prolapse quantification exam (POP-Q), used to quantify, describe, and stage pelvic support, was implemented in the study and concluded efficacy rates of Stage 1 or less to be 89.2% for Apical and 91.7% for Posterior.
In the 1980s and 90s, Scotland was known for its alarmingly high suicide rate. But since 2000, suicide rates have fallen sharply. A study published in the online open access journal BMC Public Health found this reduction is associated with a significant drop in hangings as a means of suicide.
In an article in the Lancet, Andy Haines of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and colleagues, write that, 20 years after the Earth Summit and as world leaders prepare to meet at the Rio+20 conference to advance sustainable development, "[i]mplementation of policies that both improve health and promote sustainable development is urgently needed."
