Wolters Kluwer Health, a leading global provider of information for healthcare professionals and students, announced today that CHRISTUS Health has selected ProVation® Order Sets, powered by UpToDate® Decision Support, as its electronic order set solution. In addition to automating development and maintenance, ProVation Order Sets will provide clinicians at 24 CHRISTUS facilities with point-of-care access to order sets and other intuitive clinical decision support tools.
"We know from previous studies that patients with symptomatic mitral regurgitation are at increased risk of death, but for those without symptoms the picture has been murkier," says Maurice Enriquez-Sarano, M.D., the Mayo Clinic cardiologist who led the study. "In this study we followed a large population of asymptomatic patients prospectively to identify keys to improved long-term outcomes, and to determine when patients should consider surgery."

A new study that compared HIV-positive women over 50 years of age with their younger HIV-infected cohorts found that while the older women were less likely to be sexually active and to report condomless sex with a male partner, those who were sexually active were not as likely to undergo screening for gonorrhea, chlamydia, or syphilis than their younger counterparts.
