Local medical laboratory Lab Express is offering to help the public know their blood type. Forty percent of the general public doesn't know their own blood type or that by knowing their blood type can help to save their life and the lives of others. During the month of September Lab Express is offering Blood Typing for $8, which includes a laminated medical card stating the patient's blood type to be carried with them in case of emergencies.
"Over the past decade, neglected diseases have attracted increased attention and larger investments in research," but "a new analysis by Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) and the Drugs for Neglected Diseases Initiative (DNDi) finds that the rate of approvals for new compounds over the past decade is roughly the same as it was during the previous two-and-a-half decades, when the diseases received little attention," Nature Medicine reports.
Researchers at Johns Hopkins found that use over time and not just genetics informs the structure of jaw bones in human populations. The researchers say these findings may be used to predict the diet of an ancient population, even if little evidence exists in the fossil record. It can also make it easier for scientists to pinpoint the genetic relationship between fossils.
