BioSpecifics commences XIAFLEX Phase II trial in human lipoma

BioSpecifics Technologies Corp., a biopharmaceutical company developing first in class collagenase-based products marketed as XIAFLEX in the U.S. and XIAPEX in Europe and Eurasia, today announced that it has initiated its Phase II trial of XIAFLEX (collagenase clostridium histolyticum) for the treatment of human lipoma.

TissueGene, Inc. today reported that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) accepted the proposed brand name Invossa for TissueGene-C, the Company's proprietary product in development for treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee. Preliminary results from GE Healthcare's flutemetamol Phase 3 studies on AD

GE Healthcare today announced the preliminary results of two Phase 3 studies of its investigational PET amyloid imaging agent, [18F]flutemetamol, where both studies met their primary endpoints. One study, in terminally ill patients who agreed to undergo brain autopsy, showed strong concordance between flutemetamol PET images and Alzheimer's disease-associated beta amyloid brain pathology.

Study examines alcohol use in relation to successful ageing among women

Among 13,894 women in the Nurses' Health Study, investigators prospectively examined alcohol use assessed at midlife in relation to "successful ageing," which was defined as survival to age 70 years, not having a major chronic disease, and having no major cognitive impairment, physical impairment, or mental health problems.
