Study shows link between lead exposure risk and brain structure in children

Though leaded gas and lead-based paint were banned decades ago, the risk of lead exposure is far from gone. A new study led by Elizabeth Sowell, PhD, shows that living in neighborhoods with high risk of lead exposure is associated with differences in brain structure and cognitive performance in some children.

Agilent fourth quarter revenues increase 35% to $1.58 billion

Agilent Technologies Inc. today reported revenues of $1.58 billion for the fourth fiscal quarter ended Oct. 31, 2010, 35 percent above one year ago, or 26 percent excluding the effects of the Varian acquisition and recent divestitures. Fourth-quarter GAAP net income was $232 million, or $0.66 per diluted share. Last year's fourth-quarter GAAP net income was $25 million, or $0.07 per share.
